Welcome to Ruritan

Port City Ruritan is a local chapter of Ruritan National, a civic service organization
dedicated to improving communities and building a better America through Fellowship, Goodwill and Community Service. Membership in a Ruritan Club is an honor and a privilege. Our members represent a cross section of the Wilmington area, and we work to improve our own community. Unlike most service organizations, Ruritan has no national project or program; instead each club surveys the needs of its own community and then
works as a team to meet those needs.

• To promote fellowship and goodwill among its members
  and the citizens in the community.

• To work with local agencies which serve the community
  and to contribute directly to their initiatives.

• To encourage and foster the ideal of service as the
  basis of all worthy enterprise.

• To create greater understanding between rural and urban
  people about the mutual and exclusive problems that each
  faces by striving, when possible, to maintain both rural and
  urban representation in the club membership.

Our communities are the center of American life; from them come
our ideas, our integrity, our moral strength and our leadership.
